The Villages at Vigneto is a Tuscan Territorial style master planned community that anticipates construction of of 28,000 homes over the next 20 years on about 13,000 acres along State Route 90 near Benson, Arizona in the grasslands of Cochise County. Homes will be between 1,100 to over 4,000 square feet, with five golf courses, restaurants, shops and over two dozen recreation and community facilities. Residents will choose between more than 1,500 planned activities, including everything from painting to horseback riding, to wine-making and other attractions.
The developer El Dorado Holdings is working closely with Cochise College to provide students an opportunity to learn trade skills that will be needed during the build out of the community. About 85 percent of the community will be age-restricted.
The developer chose the Tuscan theme due to the region’s resemblance to Tuscany, a scenic region in Italy known for its agricultural character and wineries. At this elevation, the land is covered in trees and grasslands, rather than the stereotypical Arizona image of desert cacti.
The development will take advantage of the favorable location and climate of Cochise County. The Washington Post placed Cochise County in the top 1 percent of counties in the United States for natural beauty, climate and amenities. “We sit in the San Pedro River Valley,” El Dorado Development Partner Mike Reinbold says. “Mountains surround the region, and looking east, there are clear blue skies and panoramic views of rolling hills all the way to the river. It’s absolutely gorgeous.”
